(USASOC News Service, May 16, 2012) – The U.S. Army Special Operations Command will honor 32 Special Operations Forces Soldiers killed while supporting combat operations during the past year in a ceremony, May 25, at 2 p.m. at the Fallen Special Operations Soldiers Memorial Wall adjacent to the USASOC headquarters building.

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, May 15, 2012) – The Canadian Commander-in-Chief Unit Commendation will be presented to Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) by Lt. Gen. Stuart Beare, Commander, Canadian Expeditionary Force Command, for their valorous actions in support of the Canadian-led Operation MEDUSA, Kandahar Province, Afghanistan during August and September 2006.
Army Rangers hold rare public ceremony to celebrate service, sacrifice
TACOMA, Wash. The South Sound community had the rare opportunity to join 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, in recognizing its own at the Tacoma Dome, May 10.

Soldier succumbs to injuries
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (USASOC News Service, May 14, 2012) - Staff Sgt. Mark L. Salazar II, 27, died May 12, 2012, of injuries received when he was shot by Fayetteville N.C. Police in the driveway of his family’s home on May 5. The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident, which is routine for shootings involving police officers.
Army announces Reeder as next SWCS commanding general
FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, May 7, 2012) - The Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army has announced that Brig. Gen. Edward M. Reeder, Jr. will be the next commanding general of the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, based out of Fort Bragg, N.C., according to a May 4 Department of Defense press release.
Special Warfare Education Group (Airborne) activates headquarters company
FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, May 7, 2012) - The newly established Special Warfare Education Group (Airborne) formally activated its Headquarters and Headquarters Company during a ceremony May 1 on Fort Bragg, N.C., taking another step toward building a fully manned and equipped organization dedicated to educating U.S. Army special-operations Soldiers.
